(ASHCAT)
Our mandate is to provide you with the most comprehensive safety courses available in Atlantic Canada. Please refer to our "services" listing for a complete description of our safety programs.

Operators of all equipment must be "competent". This includes safety training and instruction regardless of experience.
Further, the word competent includes a provision that they must be, "knowledgeable about potential or actual danger to health& safety associated withthe assigned work".

This suggests all training should be site-specific and include information on "your" equipment and "your" application. Do not accept Drive-thru or textbook training, it does not have the full potential of reducing workplace injuries at "your" business.

Services – Lift Trucks(forklifts)

All Lift Truck Training willdo a pre-visit to your business and touryour application. Pictures will be taken of your lift truck(s) being used at your facility and pictures of your application. Special notice will be taken of your blind corners, inter-sections, doorways, your existing procedures, propane handling (if applicable) daily/shift safety inspections (mandatory by law) elevated safety platforms – if used and your application in general.

This now allows us to prepare a one day site/truck specific lift truck safety course and we are now able to offer you a number of value added components at no additional charge:

  • Pedestrians (Fellow Workers)
The initial potion of the classroom instruction is a Pedestrian Safety Awareness section. Pedestrian employees are invited to sit in on this portion– for their safety,as observers at no charge!
  • Management Due Diligence
Supervisors/foreman - all management must also receive training. How can they exercise "due diligence" if they can't recognize a poor driving habit or an unsafe act by their employees . Do they know the laws on lift trucks and are they in compliance? They are
invited to participate in your training day at no charge!
  • Safety Committee members/HR Employees
Your safety committee member(s) and HR people are invited to participate in at least the pedestrian safety awareness section – as observers at no charge. They can make notes on areas that they are perhaps not meeting the law or suggestions on how to improve safety. Issues that can be discussed att heir next safety meeting.
  • WorkSafeNB/Dept. of Labour/Occupational Health & Safety/SDC (HRDC)
The officer that visits your firm is invited to participate in our safety course at no cost.

Our course consists of 5-6 hours of classroom instruction plus a demonstration of a mandatory daily inspection and an optional obstacle course. Your firm will also receive a framed wall certificate confirming your operators have had their safety training and black & white copies of the certificates in a ROT (Record of Training)file.
